Farming & Mental Health
As a Counsellor living and working in Brilley on my smallholding, I have a lot of contact with the Farming Community. My husband was brought up on a farm, and through my experience living rurally I have an understanding of the issues that the Farming Community face. I support Farmers, Contractors and anyone else working in the Agricultural Industry - including their Families. My professionalism and confidentiality ensures your privacy and discretion.
I work with Farmers and Farming Families who find themselves suffering with Anxiety, Depression and Stress.
People who work in the agricultural industry often work long hours alone which can lead to feelings of Loneliness, Overwhelm, and Isolation due to the responsibility to get results. Often many of the problems that arise are out of their control, such as financial, regulatory changes, the weather, policy changes or disease outbreaks.
Long hours and exhaustion can eventually lead to burn out, which will significantly affect working performance and most certainly family life.
You may feel that your problem is not worth worrying others about, however a build up of not wanting to bother other people, and sitting on anxious thoughts, can lead to depression.
THIS IS WHERE COUNSELLING CAN HELP.
You can discuss your concerns and challenges in a safe and confidential environment, with an experienced, well trained counsellor, and together we can develop coping strategies to get you through these challenging times.
Talking to someone can relieve the burden of carrying such responsibility alone, and lead to Positive Change.

THE DPJ FOUNDATION
I also work with The DPJ Foundation, a Welsh mental health charity which was set up in 2019 in Pembrokeshire, to support those in the agricultural sector.
The charity has grown and now covers the whole of Wales with all areas of support.
The DPJ Foundation works with leading organisations such as NFU Cymru, FUW, YFC, vets, and Welsh government to help provide an accessible and flexible mental health service.
Have a look at their website to see the remarkable work that this charity does.
