Individual Therapy

Individual therapy, also known as one-to-one therapy, is a form of mental health treatment where you meet individually with a qualified and experienced therapist to explore personal difficulties in a safe, private, and confidential environment.

My aim as your therapist is to help you gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, & behaviours and develop coping strategies for issues like anxiety, depression, grief, addiction or
relationship problems.

We will work together to improve emotional well-being and create positive change.

Benefits of Individual Therapy

  • A Safe Space: I provide a non-judgmental space for you to openly discuss your thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism.

  • Personalised Attention: Unlike group therapy, you will receive my undivided attention, allowing for a tailored approach to your specific needs and challenges.

  • Exploration of Issues: We will work together to understand the root of your difficulties, which can include:

    • Feelings of depression or anxiety

    • Coping with loss through bereavement, or home or job loss

    • Problems in relationships with family or partners

    • Recovering from addiction

  • Developing Coping Mechanisms: The goal is not only to understand problems but also to develop new, effective ways to cope with emotions and situations that previously felt overwhelming.

Who is it for?

Individual therapy is effective for people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. It can be beneficial if you need:

  • Help understanding or changing your patterns of thought and behaviour.

  • Support to heal from past traumatic events or difficult experiences.

  • Strategies to better communicate your needs and desires in relationships.

Men

Statistically men are less likely to share what they are feeling or experiencing on a personal level. Sometimes because they don't have someone they trust, often because they are less encouraged to open up in general.

Specifically this includes their emotions, moods, concerns and coping methods. and this can exacerbate loneliness, isolation, substance abuse, addictive behaviour and mental health problems.

It is underestimated how commonly men can be victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, it is so important to be able to express and heal the pain experienced, in a safe and supportive environment.

I have extensive experience helping men to gain the confidence to share their thoughts and feelings and find their own way to resolve issues and promote positive change.

Women

As a woman, I obviously understand the affects that menstrual, postnatal, and menopausal hormone fluctuations can have on our ability to cope with daily demands due to mood swings, pain, and emotional turmoil.

Menopause can bring anxiety, overwhelm, cognitive issues and fatigue - all of which can create mental health issues.

Trauma caused by domestic violence, sexual abuse, loss of a child or fertility can all add an extra burden to daily stresses and I am here to help you find gentle ways to process your pain in a safe and confidential space, and find tools to manage the demands of life and experience positive change.

Teens & Young Adults

I offer support to teens aged 15 and over and young adults, especially those who are students experiencing exam anxiety and stress.

Other issues such as negative peer pressure, bullying, mood swings, feeling that you do not 'fit in', difficulty expressing thoughts and feelings can all be explored and I can help you make sense of how things are affecting you and offer tools to help you manage and respond to demands without feeling overwhelmed.

You will be amazed at how with a little teamwork we can find solutions and encourage positive change.

*Please note, my clinic is trans-inclusive, and non-binary & gender-fluid people are also welcomed to this safe space taking into consideration their own unique challenges.
