WORKING AGREEMENT
BETWEEN SARAH STEEL AND ________________________
This agreement outlines the basis of a mutual working agreement and establishes our working relationship.
-
Counselling takes place to allow an individual the space to examine aspects of their lives that might be causing them distress or that they feel they would like to re-evaluate. The counsellor listens with respect, integrity and without judgement. They use their skills to help the client gain insight, come to understand him/herself more deeply, become more aware of feelings, and explore how difficult situations or feelings can be managed.
-
As a member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists I am bound by the B.A.C.P. Code of Ethics and Practice, and I adhere to these guidelines.
-
We have agreed to meet on a weekly basis. Each appointment will be for an hour from the agreed time of meeting. It is important to start punctually, as appointment times cannot overrun. Sessions are booked at regular weekly times.
-
If you are unable to attend, please give at least 24 hour’s notice otherwise the fee may be liable.
-
If you are late, we may have to end at the scheduled finish time.
-
If I need to cancel for any reason, an alternative appointment will be made available at the earliest opportunity.
-
The whole session belongs to you.
-
The fee for each session will be £50.00, payable at the end of each session by Bank Transfer.

-
A professional requirement of counselling is that counsellors have regular supervision where client work is reviewed to ensure quality of work is maintained. At supervision sessions your identity and personal details are withheld.
-
Counselling will remain totally confidential: information disclosed by you will not be passed on to any other parties. No details of what goes on between us will be revealed to anyone without your written consent unless required by law.
-
The only exception to this confidentiality would be if you told me that you intend to harm yourself or others. If I believed that a risk was present, I would first discuss the matter with you before contacting anyone such as your GP.
-
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and adhere to their guidelines
-
I keep brief, anonymised file notes for up to 6 years after the end of therapy in case you make contact with me again for any reason. I adhere to the GDPR guidelines as set out by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
-
Your contact details will be shredded and deleted from electronic devices, as soon as we finish therapy together.
-
The counselling relationship can be reviewed or ended by you at any time, preferably allowing sufficient time for us to look at and evaluate our work together.
Privacy
I will ensure that the space I use is private to maintain the confidentiality of your therapy.

Declaration: By signing you are saying “I accept this agreement” and you are confirming that you have read and understood the working Agreement.
We the undersigned agree to the above commitments.
